Great Song

I know that Phillips, Craig, and Dean has performed this song, but I'm not sure who else, or who the original author is. Let credit be assumed where it is due:

Crucified with Christ:

When I look back on what I thought was living,
I'm amazed at the price I chose to pay.
And to think I ignored what really mattered.
Because I thougt the sacrifice would be too great.
When I finally reached the point of giving in,
I found the cross was calling even then.
And even though it took dying to survive,
I've never felt so much alive.

For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live
Not I but Christ that lives with in me.
His cross will never ask for more than I can give.
For it's not my strength but his.
There's not greater sacrifice,
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live.

As I hear the savior call for daily dying,
I will bow, beneath the weight of Calvary.
Let my hands surrender to his piercing purpose;
That holds me to the cross, yet sets me free.
I will glory in the power of the cross.
The things I thought were gain, I count as loss.
And with his suffering I identify.
And by his resurrection power, I am alive.

For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live.
Not I but Christ that lives within me.
His cross will never ask for more, than I can give.
For it's not my strength but His.
There's no greater sacrifice.
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live.

And I will offer all I have, so that His cross is not in vain.
For I've found to live is Christ, and to die is truly gain.

For I am crucified with Christ and yet I live.
Not I but Christ that lives within me.
His cross will never ask for more, than I can give.
For it's not my strength but His.
There's no greater sacrifice.
For I am crucified with Christ, and yet I live.

Runner's Log 5-25-05

It's been a few days unfortunately. My apologies. Made a road trip to my alma mater to pick up my sister-in-law for summer vacation, then went east for a day to see other sister-and-brother-in-laws as well. Upon arriving back, my clutch in the truck went out. That evening, a family member went back into the hospital again. It's been a hectic past few days.

Had a great run this morning. It was 92* at 9:30 last night, and 85* by 10:30pm. It only dropped to 74* by this morning. It was back in the 82* range by the time I finished the run.....Texas is similar to Colorado in so many ways (minus the mountains)....but this heat isn't one of them. It's going to be a long summer. :-)

Anyhoo, did a 6.4 mile tempo run in 37:18. It felt really good to run period, let alone turn the pace up a little bit. I'll give it a few more days and then begin a more rigid marathon training plan. I've been mainly working on a distance base, and can now run 10 miles at 6:20/mile. Well....that was before it got as hot as the surface of the SUN here, but you get the point. My base is good enough now that I can start some speed work intertwined in there. I'm 19 weeks out for M-Day, and looking forward to it immensely! No injuries or even twinges, thank you Jesus. Got in contact with my HS coach who is himself a marathoner. I will keep him updated as to progress reports of the training and mine any jewels of advice he can offer as well. Until tomorrow!

Hung To the Nails of the Cross

"I perceive that this is an holy man of God."II Kings 4:9

How many of us modern prophets, do you suppose, ever convey such an impression to the Shunammites of today? The words “holy” and “holiness” have been joked about, and to not a few a holy man means a queer fanatic with long hair, robe, and sandals.

But we are in dire need of some “holy men of God” who may be out of style with earth but are in step with heaven.
The modern variety of religious go-getter may dazzle us with brilliance and efficiency, but he does not make us think first either of holiness or God.

Said McCheyne: “Men return again and again to the few who have mastered the spiritual secret, whose life has been hid with Christ in God. These are of the old-time religion, hung to the nails of the cross.” We are weary of the success and happiness school. We need holy men of God who are in touch with Headquarters, who remind us of another world than this.

Jesus Attatched to You, or You attatched to Jesus?

Men tried to enlist Jesus Christ in their projects and get His endorsement of their pet notions when He was on earth. One wanted Him to divide an inheritance. Others sought His views on taxation and marriage relationships in the world to come.

Jesus refused to ride any bandwagons. Today all sorts of reforms seek to fly His flag and advertise His support. The New Testament championed no “views” on Roman imperialism, slavery, the status of woman in society, or social reforms.

The gospel gets the slums out of people and then the people get out of the slums. Evils disappear, in individuals and their environment, as a consequence, as a by-product of changed hearts.
