Runner's Log 7-20-05
WOW, it's been a while since I've posted up. Well, as I wrote in some of my previous log journals, I've been having a terrible time breathing in the grand city of Fort Worth, Texas. Well, it progressed to where if I even run a mile, my heart rate hits about 190 for at least 20 min. Yeah, that's a serious problem. SO, I finally got in at the doctor's (appt's take forever with no insurance ;-) ) and got on some allergy medications. So far I'm breathing easier when I'm not running, so I'll give it a week and then try a few miles to see how it's working or not working.
I've been doing a lot of cross training in the hiatus from logging miles. Much time spent in the pool doing laps, a little time on the bike, and some time on the treadmill indoors at the RAC. I say a little time, because based on how much A/C was running, I could or couldn't run indoors. If the A/C wasn't running to filter the air, I was still grounded. I'm still in good shape muscularly. I've squeaked out some five-milers no matter how bad it felt, and I was still able to hit a good pace, I just couldn't breathe. So, I have high hopes for the meds I'm on. I
will update as I go! Only two months to go!!! I'm excited! I'd like to be a little more prepared at this point, but considering how things were going before the allergies kicked in, I think I'll still be ok on race day if I can get back on the roads in a week or so. Developing....
